For the past 9 years, Alexandra Boneva has been dedicating her time and energy to the children and families supported by the Hope for the Little Ones Foundation. Her journey with the organization began as a caregiver in one of its social services, where she looked after children aged 0 to 5 who had temporarily lost parental care.
Today, Alex continues to work directly with the children in the Little Houses and, as part of a mobile team, supports families to prevent separation. Beyond her fieldwork, her main mission is to find and inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to embrace the organization’s cause and help its activities grow.
For Alex and her team, the trust of their supporters is of utmost importance. That is why they involve them in their daily life, sharing openly both their experiences and the challenges they face.
Alexandra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Sofia University and a Master’s in Psycho-Social Interventions with Children and Families. Her belief that every child deserves safety, warmth, and love drives her forward and keeps her inspired!
Boyan Yurukov is a blogger and transparency activist. He is focused on opendata advocacy, liberating, analyzing and remixing public data to educate and fact-check misconceptions. Over the past 15 years Boyan has presented complex topics and multi-vector datasets via interactive dashboards and maps to make them more approachable and useful to the public.
His work deep dives in methodology, nuance, data collection and quality pitfalls, legislation, perception, bias and fake news. His work includes topics like demographics with focus on birth rate and migration; Bulgarian diaspora in Germany with focus on social and economic dynamics; voting rights and accessibility for Bulgarians abroad; missing persons; air and industrial pollution; city planning with focus primarily on Sofia; transparency of state and local government documents and events; management of state property and others.
Professionally, Boyan is an IT manager, architect, and developer in the Fintech industry with expertise in FX trading platforms, core banking applications, regulation, digital transformation of legacy banking workflows. Over the past 20 years he has been based in Frankfurt and Sofia.
Martin Atanasov is an active youth and public leader who try to combine the energy of the young generation with a commitment to addressing important social issues. He is the founder of “Black Track”, a road safety platform that uses data and visualizations to raise awareness of one of the most pressing challenges in Bulgaria.
At the same time, Martin is completing his secondary education this year while also building a career in communications. He began as an intern at one of the country’s leading PR agencies – Janev & Janev Ltd. – and today holds the position of PR and Strategic Communications Specialist, working on diverse projects for both Bulgarian and international clients.
For more than four years, Martin has been actively involved in the Bulgarian Youth Red Cross, where he has served as both a member and coordinator. Since 2022, he has also been a member of the Youth Council to the Mayor of Sofia Municipality, contributing to the development of initiatives and policies for the city’s young people.
He believes that real change begins with personal example and active engagement. For Martin, every initiative is a step toward a more responsible and united society in which young people are not just observers but true drivers of the future.
Nina Todrova has been a trainer and specialist in the social sphere for more than 25 years.
She has taken part in the reform of child care and the development of the child protection system, as well as in introducing European standards in social work in Bulgaria. She is an expert in children’s rights, foster care, and the protection of children and young people from violence.
As a specialist at SOS Children’s Villages Bulgaria, she has been an advisor on Alternative Care for Children and Family Support, and an advisor on the Protection of Children and Youth from Violence. She provides methodological support to the team to ensure the highest quality in the delivery of social services.
In recent years, she has been the head of the SOS Training Center, a new initiative to which she devotes great enthusiasm and energy. She works on introducing a trauma-informed approach within SOS, across all the association’s social activities.
Nina strongly believes in the mission of SOS Children’s Villages, shares the expertise of the international organization, and takes part in international projects.
